- held a successful 9th Grade Transition Activity in June with a trip to Morgan State Univ., the Baltimore Aquarium, a build-a-book workshop and a financial aid workshop for parents.
- created and distributed quarterly GEAR UP newsletters.
- hosted movie nights and trips to college fairs.
- went on a well-attended college tour of
Christopher Newport University - met with all 10th grade students during English classes for college/career planning and character development (showing 16 Summers and Inside Out, creating a career plan and distributing GEAR UP brochures, book bags and key chains)
- hosted a successful Financial Aid/GEAR UP Scholarship parent evening with a speaker from SCHEV, a speaker with the Tidewater Consortium, as well as pizza provided by the Tidewater Consortium.
- share information about community events and volunteer opportunities with GEAR UP students
